Neel's digital debut

Neel sang this song for his mom!

I think it's pretty impressive given that:
  • He reproduced and played the music himself.
  • He sang while playing
  • Hindi is a second language for him.
  • The song is mind blowing, in itself!

  • Neel, I am extremely happy to know that you sing soooooooooo well! In-fact so much better than your dad! I still remember when he used to start with his acoustic guitar and Beatles. As he started tuning the guitar, Diesel, his pet dog would run under the bed and hide. He would then record it on an audio cassette. His tape recorder gave him the power to scare us even when he had a sour throat. Diesel’s silent whimpers from under the bed would surely be cursing “The Philips Company of the Netherlands”.
    Just kidding yaaaaaarrrrrrrr!!!!!
    Lots of love

  • Manu,
Thanks for that comment! Altho' you badgered my singing, no offense taken. It was Work-In-Progress. You seem to have the memory of an elephant! I'll be more careful when I'm around you!

BTW: It was Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation... Not "... of Netherlands!"

  • Hi Neel!
It has been a long time and I could be wrong…..

Diesel was a good friend to me and enjoyed listening to SLBC. In-fact she would wait for Amin Sayani to come on air and both of us would then get glued to his brilliance.
I still remember her (Diesel) sometimes speak of the compact cassettes and how beautiful they look and how they roll from one end to the other and then back again, just as she would roll in the garden after a weekly bath given forcefully by Pinku bhaiya. The rolling she loved and not the bath, but rolling was more fun after a bath and the look on Pinku bhaiya’s face – priceless…!! I happened to ask her once, that if she liked the rolling tape so much why curse Philips - after all they were the first to introduce it to us. Her reply was “sweet revenge – a roll for a roll”. Even till date I sometimes think who started this vicious circle – Philips or concept of bathing or Pinku bhaiya’s recorded songs.
How I wish Diesel was around to appreciate this “work in progress”, on its way, fell in a pot of elixir!!!!
    What say..
    Lots of Love
    Manu
